 My husband was my model, and since he is a carpenter, this is always happening to his thumb...I shot this outside against an old board fence with morning light, tried to make the thumb look bruised with shadowing...then edited contrast a little; that was it.

If only there was motion blur on it, some movement on the hammer, it would look better!
