Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Pink (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
Location: My diningroom
Date: Feb 4, 2005
Aperture: F/7.1
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/60 sec.
Galleries: Still Life, Floral
Date Uploaded: Feb 5, 2005

I started by placing the flowers on a windowsill with the sun directly behind and above, then used the spot meter on the darkest area of the flowers. This resulted in a very high-key exposure. No raw adjustments. In PaintShopPro I applied the Buzz Simplifier filter on a layer reduced to 20 percent, then the Fade filter from Virtual Photographer on a layer reduced to 50 percent, then a burn layer at about 20 percent. Then the photo was cropped, reduced in size and USM applied.

One of my top pics, should have scored higher. Great work.

Too high key for my taste, but kudos for creativity.

Returning for comment:
Great high key photo.
Not really pink IMO but close enough...

Mmm, maybe a vertical shot, and to the side would have captured more of the moment. I like the soft misty look though

Beautiful and effective use of High Key. One of my top picks for the challenge. On the critical side: I am not sure the vase isn't a distracting element here.

As per the title I understand where your coming from but wow, that's bright and blinding. But I like it very interesting lighting approach.

Lovely and romantically played. Alstromeria was my wedding flower choice--so I'm endeared by your photo. Quibble with the upper left corner where the one blossom is too dark for the rest of the composition--it pulls the eye out of the frame.

Lots of high key images in this challenge. I'm not entirely sure the effect works for me in this one. What is in color looks nice though, almost like a watercolor painting.

This is a beauty. Your flowers aren't boring :) I would have liked a white border though. Excellent.
