Thanks for the comments. I learned alot from this one picture, and look forward to taking more pictures. :-)

To address some of the general comments:
1) Yes, it was a touch dark on the left side. I know now how to lighten that up. However, I did want a "dark, romantic" mood. Maybe just more uniform darkness.
2) Elegance and romance really don't go with chocolate chip cookies and milk. That was exactly why I did that. I was hoping the juxtaposition of the elements would catch attention.

Anyway, it was a fun picture to eat, I mean take, and in looking at it again, I think I have some more in the fridge I can bake up real fast. Thanks again!

25th place? No Way! I rated it a 10. Better luck next time.

I agree
05/13/2002 08:07:00 AM
This photo should have scored much higher....

Well executed, but too cluttered for my taste...
05/12/2002 02:36:00 PM
more candles, too dark - like this, very classy ;)
05/12/2002 07:42:00 AM
Cookies and milk before going to bed? Pretty good pic, but I think the candle should have been set on the same side as the light source.
05/11/2002 08:07:00 PM
I like the concept; the lighting (on the cookies especially) seems a bit harsh for the mood.
05/11/2002 05:34:00 PM
I really like this shot! I am having cravings as we speak! I like the lighting effect,. makes it seem so romantic!
05/10/2002 11:12:00 AM
Really nice, a bit more exposure might of just lifted it?
05/09/2002 09:57:00 PM
It's a beautiful setup, but the shadows on the bag are just too deep.
05/09/2002 06:29:00 PM
Mmmmm... chocolate! I think I would have moved the cookie bag to the other side of the composition. As it is now, the side of the bag is lit, and the front is shadowed.

setup layout needs adjusting somehow, maybe moving the candle out a little - the chip bag needs more light on it - nice effect
05/09/2002 10:27:00 AM
Quite lovely and tempting.
05/09/2002 08:11:00 AM
elegence doesn't mean turn off all the lights
05/09/2002 05:04:00 AM
Those cookies look soooo good.
05/09/2002 02:21:00 AM
I'm not sure that elegance is the best way to sell cookies, but it's still a nice picture.
05/08/2002 05:53:00 PM
perfect
05/08/2002 01:24:00 PM
good idea, need help inseveral areas, better composition (too much going on, try it with just the milk the cookies and the bag), better lighting (more light on the product.
05/08/2002 12:00:00 PM
Nice setup. You obviously took time to do this. I think I would have moved the rose more to the left about 5 inches to balance things a bit more and not be so centered with the cookies. This voting is making me hungry.
05/08/2002 04:02:00 AM
ah yes, tollhouse cookies, milk, and Romance. ; ) creative, ill give it that. recommend a reflector on the left side to fill in the shadows over there a bit. even a piece of white posterboard or a piece of white paper would do it. move it in as close as you can without it being in the scene.

Love the set up on this photo, maybe a bit more lighting. But really great idea! Good job!
05/07/2002 10:57:00 PM
Nicely done, but think a little more light on the subject would have had a bit more punch.
05/07/2002 07:41:00 PM
not sure these elements work together, the milk & cookies yes, but the candle and rose ? Seems like two dfferent sets of things being pushed together.
05/07/2002 06:13:00 PM
mmm....makes me hungry. Love the concept. I think the rose could have done without the baby's breath. Otherwise, great composition.
05/07/2002 04:36:00 PM
For me, this was a near perfect picture! It needed to be just a teeny bit lighter. Not very much. The shadows lend drama. Just a touch.
05/07/2002 01:01:00 PM
The lighting seems a little awkward.
05/07/2002 10:05:00 AM
I like the concept but the lighting could be better.
05/07/2002 08:17:00 AM
The lighting in the picture seems to draw attention away from the cookies being advertised. Perhaps if the milk and the cookies had been switched (or the light source were on the other side) the cookies might have been more noticeable.

Not enough light on the product name - maybe if you switched the candle and the package it'd be easier to read it. What a great romantic dinner, though!

I love the idea, but there's just not enough light in this photo. tip of rose lost, etc.
05/07/2002 05:12:00 AM
Nicely done, just a tad dark, would like to see the bag just a little better. Yummy!
05/07/2002 04:26:00 AM
Super photo. Very inviting late night snack. The only flaw to my eye is the reflection on the upper right of the glass. I realize how tough it is to shoot reflective surfaces. I rate this photo a 10 nontheless. Keep up the good work.
05/07/2002 03:13:00 AM
Nice set up, but a little too dark around the cookies and packaging for my liking. It makes the milk stand out too much and take away from the actual product
05/06/2002 03:39:00 PM
I think the lighting should have been directed more to the label of the cookies to highlight the product more. Great Idea!
05/06/2002 02:52:00 PM
The product is covered by the shadow! Madison Ave is safe.
05/06/2002 01:27:00 PM
Nice set up, however whole picture is way too dark.
05/06/2002 12:54:00 PM
Very nice. The lighting is a bit off for my taste however. not enough detail on the package face. Enhacing the light from the left ot give the candle a warmer glow to cover the scene would have been nice to me. Very well done though.

Nice arrangement of the product and other items. Needed one more soft light on the left side to give it a pro shoot look.

05/06/2002 10:07:00 AM
way too dark, the effect of the lighting is too extreme
05/06/2002 09:48:00 AM
cool idea.. needs better lighting
05/06/2002 08:59:00 AM
EXcellent clarity!! the shadows appear too deep tho...perhaps a mirror used (off camera) on the left to reflect some of the light on the right...

Nice photo, good advert (but you need more light on the cookie bag). Photo 9 Advert 9 Creativity 8 total 9
05/06/2002 06:02:00 AM
Set up but is too dark and too much going on. It's busy. What are you selling? Roses, romance, cookies, mix? Sorry I just think it's 'over' done.
05/06/2002 06:01:00 AM
The rose and candy represent the love that the cookies were baked with. The candle does not shed quite enough light on the brand name of product but I think this is good.
05/06/2002 05:52:00 AM
I really like this composition. It has a nice touch of confections and romance all rolled into one. I think an additional glass of milk would have really topped off this already excellent photo...

The darkness fits the mood, but the light flooding in from the right is a little awkard. I think a dimly lit overhead light would've worked out better.

Somehow I do not associate cookies with elegance. A different subject would have worked better in the photo.
05/06/2002 03:42:00 AM
Nice, but needs more light on the bag and cookies.

I take great pride in baking my own cookies but you sold me! I'm not sure if the candle is needed in this story. imo the lighting show be increased. Maybe just a little soft light on the left side? Great photo. I want a cookie.
05/05/2002 08:42:00 PM
Very nicely done -- Would have liked a little more lighting on the actual packaging though. And more light from the candle -- longer exposure?

Good image. I like the lighting but I would have switched the candle and the package of cookies so that the packakage has more direct light and therefore is more readable. With the current setup its difficult to read the package.
