I waited and waited for a decent sunset, and we normally get a few every week.. Saturday night I thought I'd better shoot something.
This is one of those 'good idea, lousy photo' shots. I had this great plan of an amazing burning sky, with streaks of light etc. Oh well.
Anyway, shot in the paddock next door to the house, just after sun down. You can't see them, but there are sheep standing behind me, they were wandering over to see what the heck I was up to I think.
Shot in Av mode, and the flashes were metered manually. (Sekonic flash meter) The left flash is a 580ex fired off the camera PC socket, and the right one is a Nikon SB-24 fired with a slave cell. Probably should have had the fill light a stop higher, but it's now dark outside, and we're going out tomorrow night, so this will have to do.
On the down side this shot cost me a brolly, when I was setting up for the shot a gust of wind blew one of the tripods over before I hung my bag on it, and broke a silver/black brolly, so I switched to two whites... Such is life.
Post processing was simple curves, USM, crop, scale. I also edited a huge dust spot, which I think was a bug on the sensor, as it wasn't there in other shots :-). |

That's pretty clever. Nicely lit, too. I nearly dismissed it as a witty stunt, but it's really a very appealing and original portrait. 7 |

Interesting the way you didn't crop it. It has a sort of "behind the scenes" feel to it. |
