Challenge: Breaking New Ground (Basic Editing III) Camera: Canon EOS-10D Location: Wheaton, Maryland, USA Date: Jan 18, 2005 Aperture: 4.5 ISO: 1600 Shutter: 1/6 Galleries: Portraiture, Black and White Date Uploaded: Jan 18, 2005

This shot represents a lot of "Firsts" for me: first time I have shot a portrait with a person specifically modelling for me, first time submitting a B&W image, first time with a border, first time shooting in candlelight, first time using ISO 1600 on my camera, and it's officially the maiden voyage of my delightful new Manfroto monopod.
Small room, short lens: Sigma 12/24 zoom, 1/6 of a second, f4.5
I'll say that I'm pretty much in awe of Heida's portraiture skills, and I'd like to be able to emulate her style someday. |

Te composition and light are good. But I see no innovating technique.

I like the idea of breaking new ground as reading a book. Good work. |

quite a nice pic - but doesn't scream innovation to me. |

Nice concept for a personal challenge. The background is a little distracting. |
