A dead miniature rose, take from underneath, on auto with the flash off. Basic overhead light. I love taking pictures of people/things from "their" level. Edits: resize, crop, contrast and sharpen. BTW: Played with hue/saturation, but I didn't think it improved on the pic, so I set it back to the actual.

too much dead space in the upper left area. should have re-composed to eliminate unneeded areas.

SiSi, I'm sorry about the first comment I made on your image, as I don't really think it was that helpful, especially considering the context of the challenge. Sure, there are a number of things you could do differently from a technical standpoint to improve the image, but what you have done so far is not without merit. I'm glad to see you improving, and as long as you keep trying, you'll get where you want to be.

yes, but what new ground are you breaking?

Good subject - perhaps black and white would suit it a little better with it's great textures?

too much distraction in the background , the flower is fascinating with its veins and backlighting

Technically a good photograph. Just a bit noisy in the shadows. Main concern is: where is the groundbreaking photographic technique? It's not readily apparent and therefore not the best entry for this particular challenge.

I can't see what special photography technique you would have used for this. Also, it's not very appealing. There's some distracting noise in the background, which also has a few distracting elements in it. 4.

The cobwebs on the flower leave me wondering if the bloom is off the rose.

Amazing how the color veins stick out in this image, like it

I might have cropped out that bright white on the right. I know we can't paint or clone that out.
