The Bridge at the end of my Strat
Roseytone
Critique by Silver Fox

Composition in my opinion is splendid.

The photograph in this case certainly meets the Challenge and shows some originality and newness of thought on your behalf.

I̢۪m going to get a bit negative right away. I don̢۪t like your shadow in the picture.(is that you?) It distracts, and you shouldn̢۪t be there! Now the trees - that̢۪s a bit different, their a bit more acceptable, but you̢۪re from the U.K., aren̢۪t there a lot of bridges over there that you could have included as a reflection on the guitar?? And what are the two poles (?) beside you?

Visual impact has a great appeal, especially with the colors, beautiful bright Red, nice clean White, good focus and sharpness on the strings and the screws and the rest of the hardware.
The black background is also a nice choice.

I̢۪m really sorry to see you score so low in this Challenge. All I can say is to keep it simple the next time and get rid of the distracting objects, which catch the voter̢۪s eyes̢۪. Hope this helps!
Hope to see more of your photographs next week, have fun at it,
Regards,
Ed

Fun idea, though the bridge is not highlighted in any way. Is there a way to make our attention rest on the bridge instead of being distracted by shadowy reflections?

Nice colors, but I"m not sure I like the reflections in the trees or window all that much

i had the EXACT same guitar once!!

clever idea, nice photo, but could have been more creatively done... (maybe a reflection of a bridge on the "end of the strat"???)

Nice shot, but the reflections kill it--

Distracting reflections

great idea

The reflection is really nice. It is a very creative photo.

I like the black background. I love the idea of the 'bridge' on your axe... the reflections distracted me a lot. Took it from a GREAT photo to a real good photo, imo.

This is so cool! I LOVE the reflection, and the instrument is gorgeous! Awesome 10

Nice crisp clear photo. But I cannot score this photo very high. I'm a Gibson man myself so it would be unethical to do so. j/k! Nice image and good use of creative license for the bridge thing. This makes me fear seeing an oral appliance now for "bridge". Good Luck!

This would have been better without your reflection in the guitar.
03/11/2003 05:29:54 PM
Peekaboo...I see you.

Nice variation on the "bridge" theme. I really like the reflections in the guitar, and the colour. Well done!

reflections are distracting

This is a nice twist to the bridges them. Very nice shot. Can't really make out what this is in the reflection but I think it is a little distracting. I think this would have been a stronger guitar bridge shot had you used artificial lighting and minimized any reflection in the gloss finish of the guitar. Good luck with the challenge!

it's a pretty guitar :) Since the theme of this challenge is bridges, I may have tried to make the 'bridge' of you guitar a little more of the subject of the photo. When I look at this image, I don't think 'bridge' as much as i think 'red guitar'... - setzler

Nice vase.

Nice colours that you\'ve captured on the guitar. I like the reflections of the tree\'s that you\'ve been able to capture. Nice and clear focus, good quality shot. Really unique idea that you came up with. . .

The shadow seen on the guitar is distracting.
03/10/2003 12:50:36 PM
LOL!! You know, from challenge to challenge I keep trying to think of ways to use a pic of my Strat but haven't been able to yet!! Good job! Need to rotate the pic to the right BTW.

Perhaps you should have focuses more on the bridge, and less on the rest of the guitar. Also the reflections in the guitar are kind of distracting. Other than that it's a nice image - good colour, good focus and fairly good composition.

Good idea to break away from what everyone else is offering, but I think you could have created a more interesting angle to view your guitar and I am not sure that the reflections are helping any.
03/10/2003 09:33:44 AM
nice idea, good and clear image
03/10/2003 07:53:18 AM
Refreshing take on the challenge. Don't like the busy reflections on the guitar.
03/10/2003 07:47:18 AM
Interesting idea... don't like the reflection of trees though.
03/10/2003 04:07:00 AM
The reflections in the shadows really hurt the overall effect.

Nice play on words, but try not to get the reflections so much next time. It's a little distracting for me.
