Hey, I think this is pretty cool. It didnt place fantastic but it is still an intersting shot. I guess alot of people didnt see it fit the challenge as good as the buildings with the lines and curves and all that fancy stuff.

this would be awsome in B&W its to bad it was not submitted that way.... but it is great in color too and the colors are very vivid so that is all the better with the bleakness of the sky and the tree.

1 thing i noticed is that the bottom half of the (brick on the) chimnie seems alittle unnaturaly red as does some of the greenpatches of grass (not that they r red) they appear overaly green.

was this images saturation messed with or am i just seeing thing diffrent.
if u did do some sponging nextime try to blend it more and more till u tapor off, instead of just stopping.

It looks very washed out, and there must be a better way of including both the tree and the fireplace in the frame. Walking a few steps to the right for example, and leaving some room to the left of the fireplace.

Where there is a hearth, there is a home...

Nice juxtaposition. Critically speaking, I find myself wishing (1) that the image were in better focus and (2) that the chimney and tree were more central in the composition. The chimney is a bit too far to the left and creates tension with the border.

A good subject but it is competing too much with the tree.

I had a picture similar to this one that I almost submitted. Why do people leave chimneys in pastures? Why is there always a huge tree near by? :)
