Photographer’s Notes:
It was a crappy day in Seattle and I’m trying to make the most of it. I have to go downtown to get my car serviced. This means I have to rent a car or wait around the dealership all day.

So I head off in my rental looking for architectural inspiration. It was a crappy day … I know I said that … but the weather was crappy, the light was crappy, the sky was crappy but I’m still determined to make the most of it. I'm shooting at ISO 1600 handheld and way to slow ... prospects aren't good.

First stop Seattle Center. I have in mind taking some pictures of the Experience Music Project building. This is Paul Allan’s baby … a Rock ‘n Roll Museum and Science Fiction Museum all rock 'n rolled into one. Building was designed by a renowned architect who seems congenitally incapable of straight lines. The picture I end up posting is of the EMP building where the Seattle Monorail enters it.

Next I head down to Pioneer Square. There are lots of old picturesque buildings with lots of character. There are also lots of CHARACTERS, but I digress. Crappy, crappy, crappy. I got a few good shots but not as good as the one I posted in my opinion.

Next I walk up through the downtown area looking for skyscraper architecture. Nothing inspires me at the moment.

So we’ll see what you think and how voters react.

I love the lines in this shot. I can't wait to find out what it is.

Too confused to work as an architectural detail study, in my view. All it tells me about this building is that I don't want to visit it. On the other hand, it is an interesting and skilful photograph. 5.

Slightly too confusing to be really appealing. Lots of potential in that location, though, quite clearly.

Brutalism meets hi-tech. Strange image. Feels a little arbvitraily framed.
