HI Shutterfly

I think you should have come first, and sometimes i think the DPC crowd can be some what 'traditional' (if you look at the pict that won) on their taste.. don't get me wrong i love this place and their people and the pict that won obviously deserved it

Excellent pict in my opinion!!

Couldn't be blood, it's too transparent, but the effect on the blade is very cool.

Nice idea and good bokeh. You even caught some motion in the drop. My only nitpick with this is that the "blood" is too metallic looking to be real. Not that you should use real blood...lol...but I dunno...there must be something else...?

interesting take on the challenge. yes, you have created a bokeh effect, but, for me, it really isn't enhancing the subject. the blowouts in the liquid catch my eye first, then the effect of the selective desat is to take my eye straight down the image to the drop. the way this is composed, it makes the viewing more of a rushed trip than a journey. maybe that is what you intended. i like the balance between the light and dark sides of the blade. as far as images go, this is fine; as for the challenge, i don't think this is the best your could have done for an entry.

The desaturation here is a nice juxtoposition against the bokeh you have created. It looks like you rotated the blade to make it parallel to your frame. Because the drop stands out from the background so well, it looks as though the drop is falling slightly slanted. Other than that little nit pick, great shot. One of my highest rated.

I really llike this one, it's kind of frightening but what's wrong with that?

Gorgeous. Nice bokeh too. Imaginative selective desaturation. 10

I like that it is a unique piece of art in this challenge. The black and white against color manages to raise my score most of the time. I realy like the effect it has. I could not however make this one of my top picks for several reasons. First. the blood looks too fake. The red is definately to powerfull. Second the drop of blood at the bottom of the blade looks slightly out of focus. Last of all I just didn't find it to be real exciting. It does however have alot of good aspects. The brokeh work is great and ads alot to the photo. the B&W w color works well. The knife blade is very crisp and detailed, and the lighting was great. wonderfull shot and deserves every bit of 7 and strongly asking for an 8 imo.

I ask the question I've asked myself for all the shots here: What does the bokeh do for the photo? This is a nice shot, but it doesn't have the touch of bokeh. The bokeh should be enhancing the non-bokeh.

I like this image a whole bunch.
I am personnally a huge fan of selective desaturation.
Therefore I gave you a 9.

True bokeh. Arresting image. I'm not 100% happy with the total desaturation, but that's a personal take...
