| You have the right idea about bokeh but I think your dof is too shallow. Because of the pacifier we know that it is a baby in the bg, but if you look at the baby only its a bit hard to make out what it is. |

| Different. Nice focus on the subject. Good bokeh background connected to the subject. Good composition. Something about this doesn't work for me, but it is not technical. I think it is the fact that the background is a baby with no face. I don't really know how else to explain. Good effort, and I could see this being in demand as a stockphoto to be used in parenting magaziines. Just not something I would hang on my wall. 8. |

| The baby is almost too out of focus for my taste. I like the concept and I though I was really going to like the image after seeing the thumbnail, but in full size and detail the baby is a little too amorphous. |

| The short definition of Bokeh from KenRockwell.com, which I am using for voting on this challenge: "Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light." There might be a case to be made for bokeh on the highlit side of the baby, but it's marginal. Is the subject enhanced by the bokeh of the background? I don't believe there is a relationship between the bokeh as defined and the foreground. To me this is just a shallow DOF shot. |
