Even ice crystals get spun for a loop. This is one of the rarest forms of frost to frequent my window panes. While curves and curls are common, full loops I’ve only captured a couple times. This is on a north window this winter. Am I more vigilant finding and following frost formation? You bet! Follow all my freaky frost friends and frame some for yourself!

Those are really interesting -- as you point out, most of us have never encountered (or looked for) these.

If your camera has a time-lapse feature, it be fantastic to shoot this window every few minutes through the night and watch them grow ... easy to make the series of frames into a movie.
