It is mechanical, but it just doesn't have the appeal... Maybe if you used a different background because this background looks too dark and doesn't flatter the subject...

Seems too easy, simple. The picture doesn't look as if you tried to do something special.
It's mechanical all right, but it doesn't show too much of it, except for the lever at the right. The lighting is okay, the details come out well. 4.

This is appealing. It improves ont he other jack-in-the-box in this challenge by emphasizing the crank, which is the direct mechanical tie-in. I sense a slight falloff of sharpness at the top...
