Going for some humour here and couldn't care about how it will fare. It'll be lucky to hit 5+.

From my interpretation of the challenge guidelines, this fits the challenge perfectly. Who ever heard of a piece of toast having an actual face? Well, this one has one now. The challenge never stated that it had to be naturally occuring phenomenom.

The idea came to me from the grilled cheese sandwich with a depiction of the virgin Mary that was recently sold on Ebay for a ridiculous amount of money. My wife gave me the suggestion for Homer J Simpson and I ran with it.

Most of what you see on the toast was not achieved through Photoshop, but by burning a piece of toast and using a pointy knife to scratch it out using various stencils of an image of Homer. I did a few minor corrections with Photoshop on the piece of toast but what you see is pretty much what I had to work with.

That's cool, but it is intended to be a face. I'm looking for things that are naturally hidden faces in everyday objects. Not created faces.

Funny. Bumping up.

OY! PLEASE don't sell it as a holy relic on e-bay!

Doh... All right, how'd ya do it? Too many compositional elements and unimaginative lighting detract from an otherwise very neat image (not the registered trademark of noise reduction software...)

Interesting.
:D Nice to see Homer on toast. I know that it would be easy to see if you know where it is! But I think the other elements are bit distracting in this case. The image doesn't immediately pull you to Homer.

Hey. . . .I see it! Too bad Homer J isn't as famous as the Virgin Mary. Maybe you could have sold it on ebay for $26,000 too :) Good luck!

Did this "happen" in reality? This seems to be "created"

Unless this is purely accidental, I can't see how this meets the challenge. The face seems to have been put there deliberately meaing that the eyes are meants to be eyes.
12/27/2004 12:51:36 PM
Oh Homer... I thought it was the Virgin Mary :)

If you scraped it - nicely done! If not - good seeing! Not fond of the text tucked away in the top left corner.

I was expecting a "toast face" in this challenge. You have made this shot stand out with your good sense of humor and excellent artistic skills. Good job.

This is drop-dead hysterical. I can't decide if I love or hate the incredibly flat lighting, but the "face" is priceless. PLEASE tell me it was a "found face", not a created one. If it was, and if you'd preserved it, you could have sold it on e-bay for big bux.
