 While walking around in Grindavik, the icelandic town ravaged by frequent volcanic eruptions, there was steam coming up from the fresh lava, but it was so cold (-15?C) it froze at the top layer and made these awesome ice needles

Fun find. A tad underexposed I think.

Fantastic detail here... love the textures and the contrast and how they play off each other. I think the only thing that might make this photo more intriguing for me would be a greater depth of field, which I realize can be difficult to do with macro photography.... great stuff!
