Thursday the 16th, I walk into the cafeteria at work and one of our HR people is setting up these great looking bears and garland all around the place. They are very distinguished and I decide to shoot the display as they might make good Christmas Cards.

Working on the post process on the 18th, I see the challenge. I know what I must do, return to the office camera in hand. But I have to say, I don't really wanna go.

Sunday the 19th. Head to the craft store where the bears are sold. They are now 60% off and all the other items I need are at least 50% off! Woo Hoo! Back home to play with the halogens and create a family portrait for the three little bears and their pet dogs.

1000w Halogens (2x500)/75 Watt Dining Room Overhead/Flash at 1/16th for fill.
RAW to PS -> Slightly lower shadow. Pump Saturation and Bright a bit.
Levels. Healing Brush. Crop.
Learn how to use quick mask to Gaussian the Backdrop.
- Crap, backdrop is really distracting, hate it how can I save it? - General Burn on shadows and Highlights to see if I can make it less pronounced. (Stupid F4.5 Nikon Optics, supposed to be low DOF at this number...what I gotta do go buy a Tamron?) Burn adds some heavy shadow but the USM contrast is pushing the bears to the front. Clone a small spot of grey. Perhaps this is not so bad. Kinda like it even. Let's see wha the critics have to say ;-)

Very fitting for this challenge, and very classy presentation. Technically beyond reproach, and if I were to nit pick, I'd comment that the image exposure is a bit blown but that is not enough to seriously detract from the beauty of this presentation. One other comment. I feel that a simple border would have sufficed here. Yet, your border if not sufficiently tacky to be an issue. Overall a strong entry that I hope does well. Good luck.
