Comments from Grayce for the Critique Club
This is a good composition. The strong diagonal forming from the paper and arm leads the eye right to the pills. From the other direction, the pill bottle does the same thing. Very good use of diagonals on both counts.
The exposure is very good, except for the glare of the flame. It's over-exposed, which is a pity, because the candle isn't even an important element to the picture. It COULD work but would need to be toned down.
This is an emotional theme and you did a good job of portraying that.
That little bright line up on top near the candle serves no purpose and is a distraction.
As others have mentioned, the pills definetly look like vitamins.
Overall this is an effective image, and fairly well done.
Best of luck in all your photographic endeavors.
Regards,

Grayce

the darkness work here. nicely. but the blaring light around the candle is somewhat distracting from the subject. I think that the focus is a bit soft, but In this situation, I think it works. because we are seeing this "from the eyes of the subject" the blurryness adds to the fact that this person may have taken just a few too many of those pills and is losing clear sight of everything. maybe it's just me thought. hehe. nice angle and framing/cropping. good luck in the challenge.

overdosing on one-a-day vitamins... how glamorous. composition-wise it feels a little cramped. but i lke the POV thing. creative.

I just don't see someone about to commit suicide pouring out their pills onto their desk first. Especially not vitamins.

Candlelight burns a bit too bright here., white line distracts.

Are those flintstones vitamins? Good pic, but slightly out of focus. Probably because of low light conditions? -6

Very clear shot, good focus and color. Emotive, but unless I'm grossly mistaken, those are vitamins......Nice candle and penmanship. 7 Swash

You should have spelled out "Because" instead of just leaving "Bec".

The only thing distracting about this is it looks like she's going to overdose on vitamins? A prescription bottle would have worked better here I think.

Writing a suicide note with a sharpie? God, man, at least have the decency to use a fountain pen or something else classy. :P Sorry, couldn't help myself. Good image, but it doesn't really show a sense of urgency and despair. The writing is calm and the grip of the pen is firm and calm.. Not a bad shot, though. (6)

seems to be contrived... not natural... would be better if the candle was the only light source.... or if it is, faster shutter speed so it is no so darned bright
