 Many of you know Carnival in Rio, Venice or Mardi Gras in New Orleans. In Germany too - especially in the cities of Cologne and Mainz, Carnival is celebrated before Lent. In the south of Germany, this period is called Fasching - an opportunity for young and old to dress up - similar to Halloween in your country. The carnival season ends on Ash Wednesday and the days before are the highlight, with many costume balls and parades. I discovered this young man on the side of the road during a parade in his homemade disguise
