One of my hobbies is volunteering in motorsport. At the latest event I volunteered at, one of the categories was super trucks! I had never seen trucks racing, and it was SO exciting! As part of the race safety crews, we are responsible for keeping everyone safe in the event of a crash, spills etc. My team was not required to attend this incident, which meant that I was able to photograph one of the other teams. Their job here was to lay down sawdust to soak up spilt diesel from one of the earlier crashes (see my entry in transportation). The diesel has to be cleaned up because it causes the surface of the track to become incredibly slippery, which can result in even more dangerous accidents. The safety crews job is one of the most crucial roles in motor sport eventing!
