I live in a town that was founded on textile plants. My Grandfather worked there until he retired and my Father and Mother worked until the plant closed. Yes I intentionally put the word ‘Pains’ in the title because with all the layoffs and closing of plants our family along with others had to go through so much hardship. I worked at the Bibb Manufacturing plant for a few years and remember very vividly a lay off that happened while I was there. I had only been employed for about two years as I watched a 60-year-old man whom had been there for 41 years clear out his desk because they laid him off. I cried [yes a grown man is allowed to cry] for him as I could not understand why they would keep me with only two years of service and let him go before he was able to retire leaving him and his family without insurance and a weekly income. So yes there were a lot of pains through those panes.

Gosh. What a heartbreaking story.

I really like the colors.

Wonderful shot with an emotional element to the story as well. I really like the crop/composition with the lines of the broken glass and the colors. A great example of looking at things just a little differently from a photographers point of view. I wouldn't change a thing.

I gave this shot one of it's 3 10s
Thought it would have scored higher
Never mind. Onwards and upwards
Good luck in the future

Ahhhh... Very very nice. Compositionally anyway... I wonder if the hue/saturation could be improved.

Ahh, the infamous factory windows. I smashed a few hundred of these in my day. I would have like this more if it were more artsy. Perhaps less light or a different angle. Would have got a higher score from me that way. 5

Lighting seems a little bit too flat for me. Great subject that portrays the challenge very well.
