more detail in the flame (not easy I know) would be nice.

Very difficult shot to make pop with the white candle, bright flame, and dark background. What might help capture the exposure without the blown out flame and candle. Much more light. Use the black background, but light it up much more. This will allow you to get your exposure time down enough to capture the detail of the flame and wax without so much blown out. You may have to play around with exposure compensation (moving it to the plus side to speed up the shutter). Oh and your red border is really distracting...

i'm sure you've heard this already, but the border does not do this picture justice at all. The picture is very overexposed. Removing the border and shortening the exposure would have helped tremendously.

Meets the challenge with the bent over flame. Problem: my eyes go right to the powerful border in this shot and have a hard time getting away from it. As for the candle, the flame is overexposed - not an easy thing to shoot.
