Wasn't sure what I wanted to do for this shot. I had one where I took a picture of their pawprints and they were in the background. But it was boring. I preferred this one. It suits the dynamic between these 2 as well. Stark (the BC in the background) can be a jerk as he dive bombs Nova to try and get her to play. Most times they have fun, but sometimes Nova gets a little pissed at him :)

Honestly didn’t expect much from this photo but for more than half the week has been north of 7. But looks like several 4s have come my way dropping it below 7. Serves me right. I should just look after voting closes LOL

Thanks very much everyone! Happy to see another ribbon and very unexpected. I wasn't super happy Stark was butted up against the edge of the frame. But I liked the wind blowing Nova's hair and Stark stalking her LOL. Lucky dogs indeed on DPC. They are the reason I got back into photography this year after my eldest dog peacefully passed away in June (14.5 yers old). I love to take pictures of them. My old 5DmkII just couldn't keep up with them AF wise, but this R5 is incredible. My wife was the one to suggest we get a new camera and glass as I created Teague's celebration video. The younger pups hardly had any good quality pics. The timing was ideal for mirrorless. Hopefully I can find a balance so I don't saturate the site LOL.

Cole - he is getting on in age and his back legs are getting weak. His time is approaching I fear :'(

Great shot! Congrats on the second comeback ribbon these dogs are good luck it seems :) for me this was a perfect challenge entry not just for ticking off the shallow DOF but using it to tell a story . Congrats!

its a great photo .. and i love how Nova's fur is flying in the wind .. really brings home the environment .. as well as the snow of course ..
and i'm with you on not checking till after rollover .. i find that quite easy if a photo isnt going well .. but when they are going well not so easy .. ;)
anyway .. with so few voters those 4's have a great impact ... some ppl just dont like dogs or insects .. lol ..
congrats on third place with such an endearing shot .. :)

Great use of shallow DOF. The poor dog in the front is oblivious to what's coming.

wished trouble had a bit more space to the edge of the pic :-), but lovely story in this image.
