Sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro. Post processing is minimal, only contrast and shadows edit but I desaturated the pen ink since we only had blue available but I wanted the drawing to be black so that the yellow was the only thing in colour in the image.

Used a 550ex+420x set up on tripods with umbrellas triggered with a ST-E2 for lighting.

I am very bad at drawing so my wife helped out by creating "Eggbert"

Original "Eggbert" was smiling but I didn´t think it fitted so I asked her to draw a sad one that was looking down towards the yolk and I don´t know why but this image in particular struck me a bit. I don´t really care that most of you didn´t particularly like it, after all this was an experiment of mine and you live and you learn but of course the yolk is reddish intentionally, every single bit of this photo is intentional as are most of my shots. Thanx to those who took the time to comment.

I'm surprised this didn't do better. I love it, but as you probably worked out it isn't quite glossy enough to score well(don't get me wrong I like glossy too).

As you say that every aspect of the shot was intentional I think you succeeded admirably in what you set out to do.

Looking at it a bit longer, I think that there is a deep cruelty and pathos here that would probably stop me from hanging this up.

Funny, to me it looks like this egg is vomiting. I wish the egg color was more realistic (on the yellow side)
