All too common a problem as we exhaust the world's supply of quality oaks. |

haha - i just saw another broken cork in the challenge not long ago and commented "i hate when that happens". anyways, i DO hate when that happens - but, interesting image and angle. perhaps a slightly cleaner/less dusty opener would've helped here, but it's still a strong image. |

Composition: 8, nicely organized
Technical: 8, dof drops off a bit
Appeal: 8, a little on the dark side, but acceptable
Challenge: 10, dead-on. beats the heck out of light bulbs!
Overall Calculated Average Score: 9, above average, for sure. solid piece of work. good luck! |

I've been avoiding this shot as i don't know what to say about it. it's absolutely fine - other than that the 'break' is somewhow lost in the composition. I think the lines of the bottle and crkscrew and whole part of the cork are so strong, the take the attention away from what ought to be the real area of interest for this challenge - and the screw appears twisted and that feels so unlikely that one gets a strong sense of distortion rather than illustration. Technically a fine shot, although in such a clean set-up I wonder that the noise mightn't have been reduced. |

Make sure the wine key is in almost all the way (looks like it is), and don't tilt it when pulling up, pull straight up, preferrably without jerking, but with a smooth, but steady movement. If this does happen, no big deal, unless you need to serve the bottle. Otherwise just push the remainder of the cork inside the bottle and filter whine through cheese cloth. [can you tell i used to bartend until recently?] =) |

This one made me smile :D
I only wish the edges of the opener, especially in the top right hand corner, didn't have that weird tinge along it... |

Weird, same idea as the photo before! I like this one better, but I don't really like the title. |

Interesting angle and good lighting on an otherwise not so interesting subject. Good job.
