I just sent a message to the SC to DQ my entry. I couldn't sleep so I went to go submit my original. And I screwed up again. The cfexpress card type a which my camera uses allows me to br rate the photos on the card itself. This is really useful because then I don't have to import hundreds of photos just to go through and cull most of them. But it's so easy to end up working off the card and forgetting that you haven't copied anything over. :(

About the shot:
Yes, I used the same watch. That night I tried everything. I photographed an old clock, a barometer, a different clock, the inscriptions inside that pocket watch, the serial numbers on that pocket watch, anything with numbers that I could find. I bought a light box for product photography. The Aquarium for which I work does a online auction, and I was tired of dealing with awful lighting. So I practiced on the numbers challenge. I can't believe how difficult it is to get nice photos with a lightbox. It looks like it should be so easy. I'm also trying to figure out MaryAnn's overlays. They're so gorgeous and look such a part of the composition, but I can't seem to pull that off.

Anyway, I figured I'd try to learn something and experiment with a more shallow depth of field. I love how some people can have the tiniest sliver of something in focus, and a good portion out of focus and still have it work. It was weird playing around with it. I'm thinking the focus has to be pretty much at the front for it to work, but I swear I've seen flower photos with the focus somewhere in the middle.

If you have any suggestions on really shallow depth of field, what works and what doesn't, or any experience with light boxes let me know!
