 The pier can be symmetrical if shot directly underneath, for the most part. But there's a neat sense of asymmetrical balance here between the pier on the left, the birds on the right.

lovely to look at, that pier striding heavily off into the distance, and those gulls on their spindly legs just being gulls. (gulls will be gulls?)
