You met the challenge well, in an original way. The angle that you have chosen is interesting and adds another dimension to the picture, however I think I would have prefered a straighter version! The textures are the main attraction to this subject and I think that you have captured this well.
Technical
I think that you have done a good job with the lighting, I like the way that the central part is well lit and the rest is fading into the background a bit, enough overall lighting but this concentrates the viewers attention to the central part. Focus is good, I wonder if a bit more sharpening would give this more impact.
My Opinion
Personally, the subject doesn't reall appeal to me, I like the textures and wonder if you could have made more use of this, perhaps more of a macro type, abstract shot. Interesting different approach to the challenge! Good Luck in the next one! |

is that underwater? how cool... either way an alternate light source would be best.. the camera flash just doesn't do it justice |

I like the subject very much. But I would spend more time with it to make out the best of it. |

I like the darkness in this photo, and the textures are very interesting. |

The colors and lighting work very well. The angle really distracts from the positives. |

This hydrant is quite a find! It's bizarre textures are well captured here by the direct light that you use. Its personality may be captured even better with a little more off center cropping than is already present. |

I like the fading light effect, but the subject is crooked, and that's distracting.

Hehehe, should have rotated it to the left about 20 degrees. :) Nice colors on it however. |
