I really like the DOF on this shot, and especially the way the flower fills the frame.

Supurb details on this flower, and I like the soft blur of the pedals and blue background. Nice use of contrasting colors for this challenge.

You've named it "yellow" but your focus is on the tips of the stamens, which are not yellow?

Yes, the background is yellow (and blue). basic composition iprinciple is that what is in focus is the most important item, the part you want me to see. That is the flower pistil/stamen (i am not a biologist...) and it is orangey-brown. More DOF would have made this a much better (to me) image.

Seems like this might have been a stronger picture in terms of the competition subject if the petals had been in focus, leaving the stamen out of focus. Hard to say without a comparison. 6
