 Thank you guys so much for such nice comments and a surprising ribbon! I do love photographing these beautiful birds in flight. They nest in my favorite park by the hundreds every Spring and I love watching their flight shows for hours!

In response to Sara and ThingFish, I did use some noise reduction on the water and the reflection… but I erased it over the main bird. There is likely some motion blur, but also these birds are pretty smooth. They really don’t have alot of plumage on their underside. But I’m happy you liked it anyway! Thank you!

An absolutely WOW image. It is complete in the story it tells. The water and the reflection are dreamy, the bird is in motion. I felt the detail was great considering the entire picture is in motion, the water the bird.

Congratz on the Red, it's a stunning shot. I do however agree with the comment that SaraR made about the lack of detail in the plumage.

Very nicely observed. I don't know this bird - an egret or heron of some sort, I think. There is very little plumage detail, and I don't know if that is simply a quirk of this particular bird, or if a bit too much noise reduction has been used. the swirls in the water fill the negative space well.
