 We were supposed to be holidaying in Scotland, but had to cancel at the last moment as my partner managed to rupture his Achille's tendon. As some recompense, I booked a day at a hide in an area where kestrels often visit. I was lucky, and the family of parents and two youngsters made three visits over the course of the day - with one of the juveniles landing on the gate in front of me a couple of extra times as well. It really was a wonderful day - me, a wide-open meadow, and a family of kestrels, and not another person to be seen all day :)

ps .. sorta great about your partner doing his achille's tendon .. sorry Sara's partner .. but you would never have got this amazing shot otherwise .. :)
