When I was shooting I had no idea this would turn out this well. I was actually trying my new tripod mount for moon shots and this was a convenient location. Just snapped off a few of the sculpture for fun. I didn't like the colours in the original so I did a colour cast removal, and then the sky turned a funny colour. Grayscale to the rescue, but lost a lot of details in the BG/sky because of all of the above.
What I really like in this photo are the rays from the moon (effect of 14.1 aperture) and metallic shine on the sculpture itself.
This was the full frame, no crop, so the image couldnt be any larger. If I had move further away (to get the whole sculpture in) I'd lose the moon from it's nice spot and get in a lot of distracting elements (pavement, steps, lights etc). Same goes for landscape orientation.
As some mentioned, ArngrÃmur, did a shot of the same. Here it is:
The sculpure is called Sólfarið which I'd prefer to translate as The vessel of the Sun but the artist himself translated as Sun Voyager. The artist is Jón Gunnar Ãrnason (1931-1989) who has created many beautiful sculpture out of stainless steel. This is one of my fav. I think this one is from 1971 but I could easily be wrong
Edit: verified, 1971 is right.

| Great lighting, but I find the crop too tight. Did you try a landcape layout, or even square? |

| I like your choice of subject, and the lighting and focus are great, but this one looks like it needs to be landscape to me. I think I would have like to see the subject set up just as you have it (moon placement, but the sculpture in the left portion of a landscape frame with a leading horizon to the right. Of course, I have no idea what may have been situated around this or if that is possible, it is just what my mind wants to see when I look at this shot. Hope its helpful. 7. |

| This works well in black and white... though I do think Angrimur's shot of this subject in colour worked slightly better. If in fact you are Angrimur please disregard this comment :P. The moon definately adds another element, though there may be too much empty space at the top. 6 |

| Quite a neat shot. Not sure about the negative space - at least, the amount of it -what for? Technically good, though, and the light is dealt with very efficiently. |
