Being literal about "light painting," with clumsy flowers on canvas as a reminder that even photos (light painting in another way) are abstractions from reality. The joke is on me since it was easier to imagine than to actually do. Everything in the image is light painted. The canvas is white, with image of actual shadow of the vase, then washes of gel color on LED light source (blended all kinds of ways to make gradient, including brush with sampled color), then green laser stems/leaves and red laser flowers (all individually morphed as needed). Vase and stand lighted separately then combined with silk flowers light painted from 3 directions. 16 raw files, 10 intermediate combination images, 92 layers. Part of a goal to learn more about compositing. Certainly learned it can be a lot of work.
