The rose was one of a dozen that I gave to my partner on Valentine's day. Placed it on a black serving dish by the balcony doors. Used unsharp mask with The Gimp and adjusted the brightness\contrast to make it a little more stark.

Good capture of interesting light. The rule of thirds may have helped add interest here.

Nice rose. Im seen so many since the cliche challenge though. Good DOF. I would have cut off the top outer leaf.

How pretty. I really like the focus and clearness of the image. The photo is so beautifully taken. Good job.

nice image, i like the way the flower is lighted. The contrast between the flower and the background is good. nice work

I like the focus fade to the background on this. A dash more contrast might help you hide the flaws in the bottom right background and might add a little snap to the flower too.

To be honest, I do not get a "fresh morning"-feeling on this flower. Of course there are some water-droplets on it, but one has to look twice to see them. You also might have considered to take away the upper leaf: it looks a little old.
Otherwise I like your submission with the dark background and the variation of the brightness on the flower.

I really like the way this is composed...only nit I have is associated with the background...I think it's better to have a background or not to have a background but whatever it is in top of the frame back there looks like it should either be more pronounced or go away. Overall good photo.. 6

Oh wow that is perfect. I can almost smell the rose from here! 9.

Could use just a teeny bit more contrast to my eye, but still a nice shot.
