FL: 140mm (35mm EQ)

This was taken on a very bright sunny day ... the effect is a combination of exposure, shooting directly toward the sun, and I think some ash still in the air from the recent N. California fires. The flowers were lit by the sun, but the fence behind them was in shadow, making for the black background; there's only a slight tone adjustment, sharpening, and cropped a little from the top.

Also, "sunfloeuvre." Terrific portmanteau, Don.

Yes, this lovely picture seems underwater. Shows the beauty of determination, amidst a choking, seemingly, onslaught.
Rather to the point in this light shone on the Ukraine. But it's just nature, maybe aside from the forest fire smoke, not a human atrocity.
Hope this isn't archival, though a good candidate for such, because I can predict beforehand that this could very well turn out to be a favorite.
It's already been seen and attributed.
Thanks for showing this image to us.

Underwater but not wet, or abovewater but drowning

This is a nice addition to the sunflower oeuvre (the sunfloeuvre?)

there's something early 20th century primitive about it. Like some scary Man Ray version of Van Gogh (Mango Ray?)

I like how terribly unflowery they are. I'll hang them in my gallery
