 The Rosemary beetle is a relatively new resident in the UK having arrived only 30 years ago from Southern Europe. A little bit larger than a ladybird, sadly it doesn't have the positive impact the ladybird has in the garden.

It eats lavender, rosemary, thyme and other similar plants. Hard to get rid of as spraying with insecticides is not something we should be doing any more due to the declining number of pollinators. So they need to be removed by hand, which is something of a labour of love.

We have a lot of them on the lavender in our garden. The first year we removed them by hand. Later we found they did very little damage so now we just leave them alone.

I love the fine raiment the bug wears for its fine dining. (But I hope it doesn't come here; rosemary and lavender and thyme are among the few things not attacked by one thing/beast or another).
