Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Lucky 7 (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Panasonic DMC-FZ20
Location: La Jolla
Date: Nov 30, 2004
Aperture: 4
ISO: 80
Shutter: 1/250
Date Uploaded: Nov 30, 2004

Changed Contrast to be dramatic and then adjusted Hue and Saturation.

I shot this an hour before the challenge while shooting another challenge. I accidently hit the contrast button and thought it looked interesting. Since I'm not sure what the DPC voters like, I thought I would throw out something totally bizarre and see how it fared. Thankfully, you all have at least a little bit of taste since the photo did horribly.

Much too much postprocessing.
It looks false without seeming artistic.

I am not taken by the over processing. But otherwise a workmanlike photo.

Too much contrast. There's a blue halo around the horizontal line. The noise between the blue and the white area is no good. I guess you took the shot from below and wanted the fence to stick out against the blue background. Changing levels might have been more useful than pushing the contrast. 2. Sorry.

You definatley have 7 of the subject. The background is disturbing to me though, not sure if you used a filter, or over sharpened or what, but I don't like the white/blue mess behind the subjects. The subjects are ok, but I'm not jumping out of my seat with excitement. focus and clarity are ok, and placement within the photo is alright too. ~Heather~

Yes there are seven guards here but the overall photo quality is dismal. Perhaps it was an artistic touch, but it doesn't work for me because it looks raw and sloppy. For example, the 7th stake at the far right has white artifacts near the left tip. Sorry.

i think i might have liked this shot if not for the extreme post-processing.
