 Inspired by the many great fly macro's here (thanks Roz) I wanted to give it a try as well. Used my lensbaby sweet 35 with 8+16 mm macro adapter ring. I had to get very close (few cm) but these flies kept on returning to the same spot so that was no problem, just had to be patient. In another try I made an attempt at focus stacking but I liked this shallow DOF much more.

it really is a gorgeous photo Willem .. and I've only just seen your comment that I inspired you .. that's so kind of you .. and much appreciated ..
and I know how difficult the lens babies can be to master .. and getting an insect macro with one .. well I take my virtual hat off to you ..
the shallow dof works really well in this photo too btw ..:)
