Had a few "crowd" type images, none that had any emotion to them IMO. This was taken last year at Scout summer camp. It was a procession to a camp-wide campfire event. When I took this is was nearly dark and the original is very grainy, blurred, etc. I gave this an old photo treatment and desaturated everthing but red, yellow, green.
Is this a pristine image? No. Will it gather a Brown Ribbon? Perhaps. Does it feel like a memory that I'll have of that evening, as will my son? Yes, I think so. It does remind me of some old photos I have from the 70's when I was a Scout and my Dad was a leader. :-)
If nothing else, this may appeal to the artsy type folks here on DPC that don't always give weight to an image being sharp and in focus. I hope that this makes the viewer stop and think about the when, where, and what of the event taking place.
Side note: with coronavirus this year, summer camp has been cancelled for many Scout Troops; ours for sure. |
