Fête des Vignerons 2019 in Vevey

Around 26 000 people in the arena, this was the last performance. 20000 spectators and 6000 performers, mostly amateurs from the local wine making villages.

Fête des Vignerons (Festival of Winemakers) is a once in a generation event, it happens every 20 or so years. The preparations start about 6 years before and involve many locals.

From the village where I live, about 320 people participated - from small kids to those for whom this was the third festival - 10% of the population of 3200.

In 1955 Charlie Chaplin and his children participated in the festival, they lived very close to Vevey and were involved in the life of locals.

I spent quite a few days taking photos at the festival as a member of the Photoclub de Nestle. We were to have an exhibition of our photos this month but for obvious reasons it was postponed. We will now have to wait a year before it takes place.

like this image, it really is a crowd but there is a unreal feel about it, seems there has beenmanipulated in PS 7
