These black clay dishes are traditional ware from an area in Colombia called La Chamba and hence are usually referred to as La Chamba pots or dishes.
These have been in our family for many years and are well worn. I decided not to try to tidy up the scratches and will probably get nailed by some voters for it.
I had seen a still life just with black pots/plates some time ago and really liked it and have wanted to do something like this for a long time.
Taking the picture almost drove me to drink, but PP was quick and easy, just adjusting a bit on the levels to tone the highlights down a bit and add a bit more definition to the shadows.
