 The transition of water leaving a gentle backwater fed by a reservoir and flowing into the top step of a herring run. Mature trees overhanging the backwater provide a pattern of reflections.

In another month the alewife will return to work their way leaping up the steps of the run to spawn in the reservoir. They will also have to "run the gauntlet" of seagulls waiting to feast on them at this very vulnerable point in their journey home.

Very cool! I'd be tempted to crop off the top 1/3. The flow on the left and the tempest at the bottom are marvelous. The top is just a bit blah.
