a day or so till rollover and anything can happen .!.

not expecting this to ribbon but it will be miles ahead of my last few entries .. :)

so thankyou everyone for your comments and i'd say a few high votes ..

re the crop, contrast and the sharpening ..
i struggled over the crop and was going to go tighter but decided to keep in sundae's ears .. after reading that comment i now agree that cropping tighter on the top would have highlighted that tiny fly more ..
high contrast i feel is a personal thing .. so i'm happy with that side of things ..
also .. i hardly sharpened at all .. and it doesnt look oversharpened on any of my devices .. so that's weird ..

anyway .. i appreciate the comments .. whether ppl say they like my photo or not .. always a learning experience here in dpc .. :)

Wow this is gorgeous! I have not been online very much lately, but when I entered my eye was drawn to this one immediately. In one word: beautiful. Congrats on the ribbon, well deserved

Great shot. I didn't need any more help from the composition/crop to take my eyes right to the fly - that intent expression did it for me. My eyes were as instantly drawn to and riveted on the fly as the cat's obviously were. Congratulations on the ribbon.

Feels a little over sharpened/detail enhanced on the cat and a little to high contrast. I understand the square crop but as I scroll down I'm thinking a normal crop just above the eyebrows makes the fly more a part of the photo instead of that thing in the corner. A 6 for me that could have been top 3.
