Focus seems just a tad soft on the bamboo. I think the background works, nothing distracting there. The angle and framing is good. I like how you set it to the side a bit, not dead in the center of the photo. Technically it's an alright shot, but I'm not personally drawn into the photo in any way. lacking some kind of visual appeal for me. ~Heather~

I like the simple dominant green and black of this shot. The base add some interest to the bottom of the photo, and the shadows are not too harsh on the bamboo.

Nice high contrast shot. Good focus. The bands (horizontal implied lines) and the stalks (real vertical lines) make an interesting compositional statement.
