I got invited to take pictures at this event last week. I never even knew that this is also a Sport! Being the total physics idiot I am, I find it amazing that the balloons can not only be maneuvered to a spot, but then circle back! It all has to do with warming and cooling air closer or further away from the surface ... At the competition they have to drop these markers into target zones - different tasks, different marker colors. Really fun to watch when you get the idea of what they need to do :-).
