i took photos of this robberfly .. then the ants walked into frame .. i got off a couple of pics with the ants in focus .. but in those photos the robberfly's important areas werent in focus ..

i got in touch with the site council to see if i could focus stack the pics .. in a standard edit ..
the pics i took were exactly the same except there was the addition of the ants ..
they said you can take something away .. sorta .. but not add ..

so i decided to put it in the extended free study ..
i liked the edit i did but it was boring .. so i went out on another day .. and took pics of bokeh .. making sure i changed the dimensions to 16x9 so any pics i took fit the original picture ..

Mariuca .. lol .. you are very kind .. but if you have a macro lens and a 'good' camera .. anyone can take photos of insects in their natural environment ..
the insect you see here is a robberfly and they are in many parts of the world .. if you were looking you might find them whew you live ..
this one was about three quarters of an inch .. from nose to the end of his tail .. and he was just sitting there and let me take a few photos ..
there are certain things to take into consideration when photographing insects .. and it can be different for different sorts of insects ..
like the robberfly .. you have to move very slowly .. and not let your shadow fall on them ..
its weird .. but most insects will fly off if your shadow falls on them .. but they dont seem to worry about the flash .. which i would use most of the time photographing insects ..
grasshoppers are extremely shy .. you get close enough to get a shot and then they 'scurry' around to the other side of the leaf or whatever they are on .. so that they are hiding from you .. its actually quite cute .. altho annoying .. lol ..
flies are different in different times of the year .. and all insects tend to be easier to photograph when its a bit earlier in the day .. but thats not always the case ..

You are the bug queen. It's not that you can capture these guys so well, but also how beautifully you represent them.
