I think the image is a good idea but it's not working for me. The title is "old western authority." The person in the picture does not look old western. The clothes are not, the hat is not, and the shoes are not. I like the rifle, nice touch. The coloring is good and the lighting but the above stated could use some work

Very graphical - nice approach and, although it's processed, it is done sensitively and appropriately to great effect.

Thank you for submitting a quality high contrast photo. I rated this photo very high and am glad it ribboned. I've seen so may people submit a crappy photo with high contrast, noise, or some other gimmik then they whined because they scored low claiming people on this site don't like a photo if it's not someone's kid or puppy. Thank you for showing us the right way to do it!

Thanks everyone for the comments. About the hat it's what we get here in Portugal. But i guess i passed the message. Thanks again for every comment. Finally i seem to managed to make a photo that some people like. I thought i had the ribbon on my hands but it slipped right off, Better luck next time i hope. :) thanks once more seems like it's never enough. ;)

Seems that i got to emend this. I'm soooo happy with this ribbon. just makes me wanna do more photgraphy. i think one of my objectives is done. :)

Yes yes yes, a very good choice. Forget the signal light :) This man is absolutelty stoning :) I gave it an 8. I guess I was irritated by the texture of the shadow on the ground. If only this would've been repaired it would be flawless.

Congratulations on this lovely graphical-like image. 4th place speaks highly of your talent because these effects do not usually get their fair do. Here you have a winning pose, comp and effect all coming together to create a delightful image. Kudos!

As a graphical poster this is great. Good job and good feel. Bumping to 7

The high-contrast doesn't really work to carry the mood of this picture for me. Barring that, I really like how well laid-out this is, it's overall a fine piece of work.

Great impact, but maybe if he wasn't sleeping and / or more emphasis on the gun woulda raised my score for it anyway. Good job.

very cool. you can almost imagine him sitting on his porch, waiting on the cattle rustlers. and although, to me, his hat looks a little more burberry than cowboy, so far this is my favorite shot in the challenge. :) 10

I love the high key effect here, although I don't think the majority of voters will agree with me. ...That's a shame. Nice job!

Nice use of contrast here. This reminds me of a scene in Kill Bill vol. 2.
Well done.

I really like this a lot! The pose is great and although the contrast seems really high, I think it really makes this shot.

Neat technique. I'm assuming you'll get marked down for too much post processing, but I hope not. I love it. 9.

People may slam you for the effect, but I like it. Definitely stands out from the rest of the photos. I give this a 7 based on my personal taste for certain types of photographs. Good Job.

don't know how this will go over on DPC, but from what I've seen thus far, this is by far the best entry in the challenge. I really like the editing.

this is good but so post processed, wish i could see the original. i dont really have anything against the post processing, but this doesnt look like a photograph really. other than that its one of the better ones ive seen so far.

This is a nice imiage that I think would do better in contests other that DPC. The overexposure gives this a nice feeling, not sure what, but I like it. The clothes, however, do not speak old west to me. Keep on rustlin'. (6)

Nice work, the effect is very strking and stands out from the other photos. And nobody's gonna argue with that "authority" ;)
