Thanks for the wonderful comments.

My original idea was to get a "fabulous" water drop within a soap bubble.
Silly me. Doing it the way I do (one hand holding the pipette with the water, the other on the camera shutter) there was no chance of getting anything near "fabulous". Quite the opposite, in fact... The water dropped through the bubble surface and then... nothing.
After trying for two hours (never give up) I put all my camera stuff away, cleaned everything up, working with fluids is VERY messy. End of photo for macro challenge ;-(
But I couldn't give up thinking about it, I needed a thicker fluid, something that didn't just fade away after passing through the surface of the bubble. Suddenly thought of shower gel, shampoo, washing-up liquid, etc.

Grabbed the shower gel dispenser from the bathroom wall... built everything back up again "sigh" in the kitchen, did a couple of trial shots dripping the gel through and "voila" IT WORKED!... The bubble surface "bending" when the gel drop went through was fascinating, something I'd never seen before...

My technique: Blow the bubble onto the glass surface, pray it doesn't burst within seconds, then "quick, quick" check the focus, grab the gel dispenser, "quick, quick" take the picture and, in that millisecond, the bubble bursts... This happened what felt like a thousand times.

This sort of stuff either drives you nuts or fills you with joy. When everything comes together it's totally enthralling and addictive.

Sorry about rambling on...

Here's another shot I really liked. In fact I was swithering between the two for ages but decided on the pendulum.

Thanks for the ribbon. I'm SO delighted.

The fact that you made it on a sheet of glass gives me shivers on the amount of times you had to clean up!! It's a stellar shot, and the colours are just amazing, congrats!!

Magnificent looking photo and what a superb result! I share your frustration with water drop photography - youtube videos make it look so easy but the reality is not the same. Congrats on a well deserved blue.

This feels like an Irene. If not, you have produced something wonderfully on par with her work and for that I give you a well deserved 10.
