returning for comment:
This image has such a good feel and as I type I look and relook to find why it makes such a superb image. First, the facial expression is a gem. The adult and aged hand holding that of the youth and the angle of the pen, the tilt of the table, the drawings on the table which indicate a different and merry mood as compared with the reality of the moment. And yes, the lighting on the subjects face adds to the defiant expression. Then the winderful colors present. Bumping to 9 |

I'm sure I won't be the first to say that I thought that was the boy's hand with the pen at first. :-) I like this one. |

Great expression on the defiant one's face! Would have liked it a bit better if it were rotated left to a more level perspective, also might like to see more of the teacher/parent (the authority figure, after all). |

The expression on his face is great! I think this is a wonderful shot, but personally, I think the huge black border takes away from it a little. |

Cute. I love the old womans hand. His expresion seems forced, but hey - that's the way kids are sometimes. I'm not sure I like the tilt, or the colors. It seems to have a green cast. Good Luck. |

A challenge to authority -- this one gets a 10. Great expression on the boy's face. Lots of fun to view -- thanks! |

Great use of warm colors to mirror the child's anger. Brilliant tilted angle and use of lighting. How did you get the child to show that expression in his face? Too perfect! Thanks for sharing. The size of the pen add to the extreme, over the top feeling of this photo. Artfully framed. Fantastic Shot! |

oh, how i can relate to this. every day with 2 children. if they put half the energy into just doing the work that they do complaining about it, it would get done in a quarter of the time. you have really captured the challenge here. good luck!
[just as an aside, i think the border here is way, way too strong for the image.] |

An interesting interpretation of the theme, but unlike many, this works. I would desire slightly more balanced lighting, the highlight onthe boy's face is a bit over-exposed. Also, the colored pencils in the foreground are a bit coars and grainy. |
