Yes the images of children, especially Anita's glorious entry, are charming and endearing. Still, there is no less charm in the casual serendipity of this glint of sidewalk color, and its unexpected appearance. And we smile even more broadly to be in this world. |

ok, we need to talk about this. confetti in the gutter is an image that's haunted me for decades. I think Philip Levine used this image but I haven't been able to find it. And while we're talking about unfound poems, there's also a poem about a Roman Emperor who was used as a footstool. Can't find that one, either. True story, though. Look it up. You'll find him. But not the poem. |
