@Don, It was by happenstance, although I didn’t think so at the time that somebody who was waving one of those awful metal detectors (why do people do that just to find a few dollars) happened to be in the way of my shot, (and on hindsight so glad he was) therefore the only way to take this image was to tilt the camera so as to avoid the intruder. When I uploaded the photo there was no way that I was going to try and straighten it. I think it added to the whole effect...( and now reading all the comments, I think you all agree) I took three images of this scene and it was a delightful little episode to watch father and daughter interact like this...the firm grip of her dad, secure in her chubby little hands knowing that she was safe from the perils the ocean can bring.

My only regret is I didn’t go up to this gentleman afterwards and tell him that I photographed him and his child. I would’ve loved to have given him this photo...who knows maybe one day I’ll bump into him at the beach and tell him all about it.

What a perfect take for the challenge. I really love this image Anita! The expression of the man, the flow of the water, the child floating in the air. Congrats!

Congrats Anita. Superb photo that really captures a special moment. You are brave to take photos of strangers - I am a bit wary of taking photos of strangers without their permission especially when kids are in the mix. Guess it is a sad state the world is in these days though having said that I wouldn't want a stranger taking a photo of me and my daughter.

this is one of my very favourites in the challenge .. is has such a wonderful joyful feel to it and made me smile .. everything about this works .. your crop .. your tilt and catching the connection between the child and the adult .. the waves are an added bonus .. and of course the black and white . . perfecto .. !! .. :)
